MMDVM Board - XD3804300

Post by G0FHM »

Hi folks,

I'm getting all the kit together for building a DMR repeater.

I have the above mentioned board (see attached photo).

I have a Pi 3B+ running 4.1.0-RC6.

When I connect the board to the Pi, the LEDs' on the board cycle, the red PWR LED is on, and the green LED flashes. However, the Pi won't boot - There is just the solid re LED, and no green ACT LED.

Am I doing something wrong? Or have I got a duff board?

Thanks,

J

Oh and PS - Can somebody tell me what the IGN connector does? I want to think ignition.....

Have you chosen the Pi-Star modem configuration?

I cannot get the pi to even boot with the board connected, so cannot even change it.

I will try to select it, then power down the pi, connect the board and attempt to power it up again!

As you have the opportunity to connect the monitor to Raspberry to plug in and see if you can see anything. For me it is as if the card was damaged or a problem with the recorded image.

I will try and have a look.

I'm not sure it the pistar image, as I can use the same Pi with a Radioddity GD77 as a hotspot and I have tried a STM based hat on the GPIO pins, and that works fine also. It's either a configuration setting I am missing, or a defective modem board.....

Problem solved!

It would appear to be a power supply issue. If I remove the hat, power up the pi, and immediately put the hat on, everything powers up and runs as it should.

I currently have a 2A PSU which seems to work for the STM hats, but obviously the initial current pull on startup is too much for the PSU. Best I invest in one that has a bit more beef!

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction regarding plugging the pi into a monitor!

Just saw you have one of the MMDVM pog STM32 boards. Do you know how to program these with the latest MMDVM code? I see these boards are from eBay and only cost £20.

I was have the same problem when I try to use Pi-Star_RPi_V3.4.17_20-Jan-2019. I loaded a previous beta version and the system came up but cannot read the modem firmware.

I am getting ready to set up one of these boards on my PI 3B+. Was wondering if anyone could tell me which modem configuration would be correct with the POG board? I plan on interfacing this setup with a Yeasu FT1500. Would the Squelch line need to be connected to the COS (carrier on sense).
Thanks
