Dashboard in iFrame ?

Post by VA7WPN »

Good evening,

I am trying to get my PiStar Dashboard to show up in my clubs website, as an iframe. That way the members dont leave the site, and everything seems to be one flowing system / content.

I can access my dashboard from outside of my repeater location, without an issue. HOW EVER, within the iFrame it does not show.

Any idea if this may be because of the dashboard its self?

It is - the dashboard has some on-board security measures that stop it loading in an iFrame.

You can call the individual pages and load your own CSS, this would be a better idea from most respects.

If you want some specific pointers - ask away, nothing is a dumb question.

I know this is an old thread. I would like to explore it again.

I ran into this issue trying to create a method of monitoring multiple hotspots. I have two currently and will probably add a third. I was hoping to have a quick dashboard I could open to see the status of all.

In another usage scenario, I belong to a club with two MMDVM repeaters and we are adding two more. It would be nice if it was easier to monitor these as well.

Since I can't put the dashboard into an iframe, what is the recommended manner to monitor multiple Pi-Star based systems?

For example, the new ones we are installing will be P25 only. It would be nice to see some last heard data and the currently connected reflector for each system.

Is there an API available for collecting info from Pi-Star? What do you recommend?

Have you taken a look at some of the work done here? Maybe there are some ideas there you could use to develop the kind of display you want:

(Edit. moderator) links removed.
This project isnt supported within these pages. It's developer has chosen not to make the changes to work with current releases, and as a 3rd party solution we cannot offer support here.

Thanks guys.
W1KMC your are correct, i want to monitor multiple devices on single screen. Mostly for our admins, but it would be the same for our members.

I was hoping MW0MWZ would chime in, maybe there is a better solution than iframes. I started this way because I do this with AllStar so I can monitor different nodes during our net.

Firstly is your club website running over https? If so you can't place a http iframe within secured (https) content. So you can't have a mixture of http/https as this was considered a security risk several years ago.

So you'll need to either implement https on your pistar systems (something that has been requested several times in the past) and then the iframe should work.
