Weird happening with OLED scrolling

Post by G8SEZ »

Some time today all 3 of my Pi Zero W PiStars all stopped scrolling their OLEDs, probably about simultaneously. This didn't happen to the Pi 3B+ hotspot.

I had to reset scrolling to 1 for all 3 OLED sections in the expert mmdvmhost settings and apply changes.

Weird. Anyone else had anything like this happen?

Check your settings.
recently an update was pushed out using the overnights that default scrolling to off. This was to help with newer screen types coming out that don't fully support scrolling and corrupt the screen image.

As yours does support it, just turn it back on.

I did exactly that, but I don't recall seeing a change that would cause this.

The Pi 3B+ has a dual HS HAT with the same OLED as the Pi Zero W HATs have.

Odd.

Were you poking around in the configuration page making changes to any other area on those 3 RPi Zero W's before you noticed the change?

Did you restore an old configuration from 3.4.17 or earlier into the RPi Zero W's by chance?
No I don't think that they have been touched for some time, and I always use the expert page when I do. But something must have caused it, it may be that I forgot something.

Maybe when the v5 dashboard appears these sort of finger problems will disappear.

I don't know, I assume that Andy is fairly busy and the update to Buster in Raspbian caused a big upset with development generally. Maybe he'll comment if he sees this.

True, but the 4.0 beta and RC series went on for a long time and then the release version jumped to 4.1, I took that all to be Buster related.

I believe Andy thinks the current dashboard is too heavyweight, the intention to streamline it is welcome so I really hope that development continues.
