MMDVMHost update

Post by LU5AGQ »

Hi Andy et all.

Do you have any ETA on updating MMDVMHost for Pi-Star?

I'm asking because I want to fully implement the FM mode (along with D-Star) on our repeater (a TKR-820 with Repeater Builder blue board) but even having the last MMDVM firmware installed on the board, we need to have the latest MMDVMHost running.

Many thanks for your time.

The current vers. Of MMDVMhost in pistar supports FM repeater mode. What isnt currently setup is the configuration pages for the mode. Add the lines shown below to your mmdvm.ini file and edit for your particular needs...

[FM]
Enable=1
# Callsign=G4KLX
CallsignSpeed=20
CallsignFrequency=1000
CallsignTime=10
CallsignHoldoff=0
CallsignHighLevel=50
CallsignLowLevel=20
CallsignAtStart=1
CallsignAtEnd=1
CallsignAtLatch=0
RFAck=K
ExtAck=N
AckSpeed=20
AckFrequency=1750
AckMinTime=4
AckDelay=1000
AckLevel=50
# Timeout=240
TimeoutLevel=80
CTCSSFrequency=88.4
CTCSSThreshold=30
CTCSSLevel=20
KerchunkTime=0
HangTime=7
UseCOS=1
COSInvert=0
RFAudioBoost=1
MaxDevLevel=90
ExtAudioBoost=1

Hi Andrew, and thanks for your quick answer.

I've being using FM mode in Pi-Star since June when Jonathan added the branch on the MMDVM firmware, but unfortunately MMDVMHost-20200615_Pi-Star_v4 wich is the version I'm running (I think is the latest available) doesn't support some features like AccessMode, more info here: https://groups.io/g/OpenDV/message/530

Do you think there is a planned release for MMDVMHost for Pi-Star with the latest code from MMDVMHost? Or if there is a way to compile it on my own?

Many thanks.

Andy is clearly looking to release his version of MMDVM binaries, I don't know when but this is a placeholder for the code. At least, that's my take.

Again: Does anyone have any ETA to update MMDVMHost for Pi-Star or somewhere to get the code?

I don't know how you concluded all that from just a URL. :lol:

Suggests that there is more to come in the future.

Well, I know very little, but for whatever reason Andy seems to follow a pattern where the summer is quiet codewise.

I don't see why he would create a whole new github account and create a couple of new repos without intending to do something with them.

I will see if I can find out. I'd be more than happy to help where I can, if only to spread the knowledge more widely.

I don't see why anyone would create two github accounts in the first place. To me that just seems like more crap to keep track of.
The new one is subtitled Mr Pi-Star, I imagine that he intended to put everything PiStar related there eventually.

I will report back if I can get an answer.
