RESOLVED - RadioID.net vs. QRZ.com

Post by N7HHI »

After applying the 20210125 update to pi-star when I click on a callsign to look it up, it goes to RadioID.net instead of QRZ.com. Why the change?
In my "General Configuration" section of the Configuration page, I have the URL field set to my QRZ page.
Now when I click on my own callsign it goes to RadioID.net and shows an address that is nearly 4 years out of date. I have a lot of information on my QRZ page and now none of that is being seen. :(

PLEASE READ: If you are looking for the solution of changing back to QRZ from RadioID.
The solution is in the following post: viewtopic.php?p=16596#p16596
If you don't have the Lookup section in your CSS settings, take notice of **Note 2.

This isn't that hard folks, just read the post and follow directions...

Honestly I am kind on the fence about it all....

but the thought process goes like this;
QRZ is generic Ham related information, while radioid is only relating to the digital end of the hobby.
There is advertising on both, but less on radioid.

I can't say I have a specific allegiance to either, but in my opinion (and it is just opinion) radioid is a better fit.

Feel free to change my mind :)

Yeah I can do that, lets let the paint dry for a couple of days, but nag me after that and I'll see what I can rustle up...

I like the idea of the user being able to select which service to use

Also, not sure how game you are for messing around with the internals, but you could make the appropriate edits....2 files are lh.php and localtx.php both located in /var/www/dashboard/mmdvmhost.....now to figure out the exact URI to put in :)

https://github.com/AndyTaylorTweet/Pi-S ... ost/lh.php

Lines 42 and 45, I left the old ones commented out, it's like I knew that this would come up :)
You can just comment the current ones (comment lines 41 and 44, uncomment 42 and 45 and job done).

I have to say, don't rush to change it locally unless you REALLY want to, if there is enough of a need, I'll add a flag somewhere to swap them over.
