Organizing PiStar APRS suffixes

Post by N5WE »

I'm trying to nail down the settings/modes in PiStar and suffixes of my callsign that will appear on aprs.fi. Not the number, but the letter appended to the end of the call and what process/mode/setting that will trigger it.

There are two instances of a callsign in the raw data. The first is what you can search on in the aprs.fi search box, the second instance seems to be where PiStar may indicate the mode or GW that's causing it. Here's what I've found:

1.) 2021-02-05 02:17:52 CST: N5WE>APZDMR,QTH*,TCPIP*,qAU,T2KOBLENZ:)N5WE-DP!3011.92N/09203.01WrRNG0034 IPSC2-QUADNET MMDVM 438.5000@+11.0 MHz Appears as N5WE-DP on Aprs.fi with an antenna icon. Definitely due to turning on DMR+ and connecting to an IPSC server.

2.) 2021-02-05 00:57:07 CST: N5WE-R>APDG03,TCPIP*,qAC,N5WE-RS:!3011.92ND09203.01W&/A=000000440 MMDVM Voice 438.50000MHz +11.0000MHz, N5WE_Pi-Star_ND
AND
2021-02-05 12:15:08 CST: N5WE-R>APDG03,TCPIP*,qAC,N5WE-RS:!3009.96ND09200.10W&/A=000000440 MMDVM Voice 438.50000MHz +11.0000MHz, N5WE_Pi-Star_RPT
Both of these appear as N5WE-R on aprs.fi with a black diamond icon. The Pi-Star_RPT apparently is tied to DMR2YSF, turn it off and it stops beaconing. But I'm not sure where the Pi-Star_ND comes from, I disabled DMR which left no modes running. It still beaconed the RPT.

3.) I don't have a datastring for the last one, but it appears as N5WE alone, has an a little man icon and comes from the FT-1D, when keying it.

Anyone else have these figured out?

With these recent updates/upgrades APRS are just about everywhere.

Pi-star-ND is / are likely to be in YSF GW and NXDN GW under Expert page. Just look for APRS and change 1 to 0 to disable it if you do not want it.

Just look page by page under Expert menus, look for APRS stuffs.

Man, I totally overlooked it. Also didn't read the changelog on 4.1.4 and noticed mention of the beginning of the APRSgateway to control. You are absolutely correct, the ND is from YSFGW, RPT is from NXDN and the DP is from DMR+. Nice! Now if I can get the DMR+ under control, both of my hotspots won't be fighting to id.

Thanks for the heads up!

DP stands for digipeater, unsure on the others. then there are the other suffixes like 7 for HT's and 5 for cellular....
