Help a nooby please.

Hi and thanks for letting me come aboard, I have flashed 2 sandisk memory cards with 4.1.1 and also added the w....config file (name isnt in my head)
I have tried these in a 3B+ and also a zero W, when booting it gets as far as a screen with Pi-Star on (made up of dots) it and its asking me to log in but whatever I put in it tells me its wrong....I have tried pi-star and rasberry and nothing works. I dont recall it asking me to set up a user name and password.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, Ime brand new to pi-star and MMDVN hotspots and its driving me nuts.

Oh and just to add I can see that the pi is connected in my router.
