Dstar service went down

Post by HS9EJL »

Hi Guru,
I have my hotspot pistar version 4.1.6 with MMDVM and enabled D-Star network. When I turn on over the night and in the morning in everyday the system show in dash board "Dstar netwok" went down (RED color in dashboard) and I have chek in the OS and found that the /var/log was full 100% by using "df -k" command. So, when we reboot and system come up with log cleaning after reboot and the system working fine.

So, Do you have any script to put it in "crontab" for clearing the log may be every 4hrs something like that. Any command or script to working on this issue.

Have a look at log rotate.

Im guessing you must be using a very small sd card if what you say is causing ur actual problem?

I was under the impression Pi-Star mounts /var as a RAMdisk to prevent writes to the SD card.

However... the OP apparently has not reported what the contents of the log files were -- so there is no information available as to /why/ a mode is down.

I dont think, what he thinks is his issue, is actually his issue. unfortunately i don't have time to investigate or help out this evening. If the logs are filling, then something has been changed as hinted to by Jason or its something or other in the os thats filling them.

Unfortunately the dont give them what they asked for, give them what they need often requires more time to fulfill, where as the oposite is many times easier. Image

Thank you for all reply and I forgot to add information as I have using NEXTION 2.2" screen as well.

Actually, I have expand tmpfs for /var/log from 64M to 128MB and reboot the system and also turn off the "Callsign Routing" and reduce the log creation in ircDDB and in this morning under /var/log also 100% full again.

I try to investigate more in the logs file and haven't seen any error message in the log but I have one thing that have a question for the message in /var/log/message file. it's write repeatable the message as following in every a second ;
================================================================
NextionDriver : Use Transparent Connection No
NextionDriver: Local Port 40054
NextionDriver: Remote Port : 40095
NextionDriver: Found Virtual Port [/dev/ttyNextionDriver]
NextionDriver: Found Nextion Port [/dev/ttyUSB0]
