pi-star auto AP security

Post by m1cfk »

so, the ask is to put user/password on wifi autoap browser login.....

happened accross this possible issue

firstly i was looking to see if i could change the auto ap ssid to something else. Failed so far. Had to log in with p/r as usual.
edit- its name is linked to host name of course....

but, whilst playing with the auto ap, i realised, that there is no security asked( the p/r pw, assuming its still default) when logging in via autoap and browser.

so, that means someone rogue, if they so wished, could get into my device via the open ssid if my router happens to be off, but pi is on.

The AP is hosted on the pi. So thats all they could ever log into, if in wifi range.
