When you use Pi Star as a gateway for an ICOM "stack" it is not necessary to have two ethernet ports. You can just program the RP2C to be on your local network (ex. 192.168.1.x) and use the one port on the RPI.
Pi Star's ircDDB will, however, try to "help" you by automatically changing the repeater address to 172.16.0.1 after "apply changes" from the menu.
It will not work this way. If you burrow into the logs, you will find that ircDDB is unable to communicate with the repeater.
I have been bitten by this several times - usually after enough months have passed that I have forgotten what causes it.
