I should not have done that.

Post by w5ssn »

I played with fire once to many times and got burned. I sure could use some help.

I really screwed my Boomerang Duplex Hotspot up. I have been running W0CHP's version and everything has been running good. Then I took an update and it broke. He replaced /usr/local/bin with his own code to support M17. This was a lot more than just a pretty interface. I ran the command to back it out. But back on original PI-STAR it is still broken.

Tried to restore from my Pi-Star backup snapshots (thought they were images) (WRONG) and I tried a Factory Reset. The MMDVMHost will not start. The 1.3" screen has stopped working. Everything looks setup as it should. I went through the MMDVMHost settings. No good. I looked at the MMDVMHost file in SSH and I see what I think are a lot of extra entries for M17 and P25.

It uses the STM32-DVM / MMSVM_HS - Raspberry Pi (GPIO) per the documentation.

MODES ENABLED DMR is RED. MMDVMHOST is RED under the Gateway Hardware Info. I checked the /boot/config.txt and BT is set correct.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am Linux proficient and think I have good troubleshooting skills. Well..... until now.

All else fails, I have the same hotspot coming at the end of the week only with a new Zero W 2 installed. I could copy it's card. I would think it would be the same?

We only support the official pistar release. We cant offer help here with a hacked vers. from someone else because we dont know what they have done in their changes.

Suggest you download the offical vers from pistar website and we'll try and help you out if theres still an issues with it.

Ps. we are working at a pace on intergrating m17 capabilities into the official release, but it isnt there yet.

Fully understand and totally agree. When it was modifying the screen, it's wasn't a big deal, now it's changed things quite a bit.

Does the factory reset not bring in a fresh copy of PI-STAR or does it just reset the configs? Tonight I'll take it apart and get the card out and take a image before I start. Hey.... all part of what makes ham radio. It's a good learning experience.

Thanks,
Mike

Hello Mike, we make the Boomerang hotspot pro and we can help you fix this issue or simply send you a new SD card. The pro uses the standard pistar load. please contact me via https://cqradios.com contact form if you are still having a problem with your unit. thank you Simo 73
