RX High BER

Post by KB4TXW »

I can't figure out why D-Star mode has such a high BER on receive? If I change the mode over to YSF it's smooth as silk, almost no errors over several days. I have the proper offset configured in the CSS Tool options, TX to the hotspot is fine.

Different radios can require differing offset values.

You will need to find a happy medium where both function adequately.

OK, the problem appears to have been with my router's subnet, and the fact that the hotspot was connecting on 2.4GHZ. I corrected my subnet issue, moved it to 5GHZ and my percentage loss and BER have almost disappeared. It's funny that this only surfaced in D-Star, YSF and DMR were fine.

Ok so BER indicates losses between radio and installation. And loss indicate loss over the network (interwebs)
