PTT for half second transmits for 60 seconds. Why?

PTT for half second transmits for 60 seconds. Why?

When PTT is pushed for a half second, Pi-star and radio continue to indicate TX for 60 seconds. And often it recycles again for additional 60 second TXs withOUT pushing PTT again. Is this something I have set up wrong, or is it something else?
