RPi 4B for MMDVM hotspot...Am I nuts?

Bought a RPi 4b. Having ZERO experience with a factory fresh pi, I thought I'd assemble a second hotspot. Been using a ZumSpot RPi v0.6 purchased from Ham Radio Outlet (on and off) since ~2018. Works every single time. I have a duplex MMDVM HAT somewhere around here. I enjoy frustration, confusion and exasperation I figure a RPi 4b/duplex Hotspot would tick each one of those boxes. But here's the thing. Where to start? My guess an Raspberry Pi Image??? I "believe" I can handle the Pi-Star aspect of the hotspot (if I get that far). Raspberry Pi...I'm just a monkey playing with a football. So, now what? Any input will be appreciated. Thank you.

Probably the easiest route would be to clone the drive from your working system (using Pi-Imager) and insert it into your second system, bring it up and then reconfigure it so you don't duplicate hostname and frequencies and go from there. Trying to start over from scratch is/would be more involved/trickier but cloning, you'll be ahead of the game with a known, working configuration.

I decided to nix the idea of a RPi 4 based hotspot. Just overkill to an extreme I think. Went ahead and ordered a RPi Zero with an installed header. Coming from the UK. Hope to have it in a couple weeks.

Is that the original Zero W or the W2?
Sometimes the original W can be painfully slow when carrying out the initial setup configuration changes. I've just moved one SD card and modem over from a Zero W to a Pi 3 and the difference is quite noticeable.
