Pi-Star 4.2.1 Upgrade
Pi-Star 4.2.1 Upgrade
I recently bought a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W with Pi-Star 4.1.8 already loaded. I see there is a new version 4.2.1. I am unable to upgrade to this version using the update and upgrade commands. Will I need to flash a new SD card to the new version in order to upgrade? Thanks
Re: Pi-Star 4.2.1 Upgrade
Yes. The 4.1.8 version (running under the Buster version of PiOS) can not be update/upgraded to the 4.2.1 version (running under the Bullseye version) - you must re-image.
Re: Pi-Star 4.2.1 Upgrade
Did you manage to update? I can't get 4.2.x to run on my Pi Zero W at all. I tried three different SD cards but no luck.
Re: Pi-Star 4.2.1 Upgrade
I have the same problem as the previous poster. Same Pi Zero W unit, Rev 1.1. Same type hs_hat. Modem firmware is up to date (1.6.1), Pistar 4.1.8 running fine, trying to upgrade to 4.2.1. Downloaded, unzipped and flashed it (using Etcher), config backup and wps_supplicant files both copied to boot directory on an 8 GB MicroSD card, waited several minutes for my hotspot to finish loading but it never got past the “Initializing…” message on the Nextion. This unit has been running 24/7 for several years and no previous upgrade has failed. Is an 8GB SD card big enough for this upgrade? That’s about all I can think of as a possible cause unless the Pi itself doesn’t have the “horsepower” to run the new OS.
