Important Announcement from the MMDVM Project, The Pi-Star Team, the WPSD Project and the DVRef Team
_______________________________
Starting early May there will be a significant update to the management of P25 and NXDN reflector listings. In collaboration with Jonathan Naylor, G4KLX, the creator of MMDVM and other digital voice programs, we are transitioning to a new centralized reflector listing and Hostfile management platform called DVRef.
_______________________________
What is Changing?...
Effective May 5, 2025, the maintenance of P25Hosts.txt and NXDNHosts.txt will be discontinued in their respective code repositories. Reflector operators will now be responsible for adding and managing their reflector listings through the new DVRef portal.
_______________________________
Why the Change?...
This change will streamline the process giving reflector owners greater control and self-sufficiency removing the need for numerous pull requests to the P25Gateway and NXDNGateway repositories.
Improve Efficiency: A centralized database will simplify management and reduce the workload associated with maintaining host files.
Reflector owners will have direct control over their listings, ensuring better accuracy and a timely update process.
Decrease the time it takes for hostfile updates to propagate to various digital voice amateur radio software
Enhance Accuracy: Direct operator input will minimize errors and ensure up-to-date information. Additionally, “stale” reflectors will be auto-pruned from the listings/hostfiles to help provide better user experiences.
Future-Proof the System: This change will provide a more sustainable and scalable solution for managing reflector listings.
_______________________________
Impact on Users...
This change will affect all developers and users of digital voice applications and software that rely on P25Hosts.txt and NXDNHosts.txt hostfiles. After the cutover date, only reflectors listed on the DVRef portal will be accessible.
_______________________________
A call to action for all reflector owners...
If you own or run a Reflector you really need to be aware of this change:
It is crucial for you to add your reflectors to the DVRef portal as soon as possible. Any delay will result in your reflectors being unavailable to users of many digital voice applications after the cutover date of May 5, 2025…

How to Participate...
Visit the DVRef portal at https://dvref.com/ and create an account. Follow the instructions to add your P25 and/or NXDN reflectors.
Please ensure your reflector information is accurate and up-to-date.
