Hello,
I've reached a point of total frustration. I have a Zumspot MMDVM running Pi_Star 4.2.3 and brand new Yaesu FT-70D, both of which I really like. I have spent over 3 weeks trying to get the HT to connect to a YSF Reflector or room. I'm quite sure the hotspot and HT are working as they work just fine when Pi-Star is configured for D-Star. No problems connecting to reflectors and having QSOs there.
I have watched countless videos on setting up the Pi-Star software and the FT-70D for YSF, have poured through numerous board posts here looking for possible solutions. I've tried the calibrate function of Pi-Star to change the offset a bit. At one point, I was able to get the FT-70 to connect only to to watch the radio, well get stuck. I couldn't disconnect from the room. For the most part, when I do try to connect, the HT does start a transmission, then stops, no 4 beeps, and times out after 25-30 seconds.
I have gone back to factory settings on the HT to start from scratch and the same with the Zumspot. But in the end I can't get a connection. I don't believe I am naïve on this. The video instructions were quite clear on the setup, following and doing step by step what the authors were doing. Yet, here I am. I should mention that when I configure Pi-Star for a particular YSF reflector or room, I can hear the QSO's on the on the frequency I have programmed. So at least something there is working. It has to be something with the transmission.
I really would like to get this working so I can get on the air. There must be something I am missing here. If there is an 'Elmer' who is willing to help me, I would so very much appreciate it.
Hoping to get someone to respond here.
Thanks and 73.

FT-70D WILL NOT CONNNECT to a YSF reflector or room at all
Re: FT-70D WILL NOT CONNNECT to a YSF reflector or room at all
Hello
When setting the frequency on the FT-70 you must set the transmit power to the lowest level.

OMG, that appears to have been the problem. I didn’t realize that the HT needed to be on low power. It now connects!
Hopefully I can start getting into a few rooms and on some QSOs and do some other exploring.
Thank you for such simple advice that worked.
