Request: Help upgrading from 4.1.10 to 4.2x

Post by kk7lmp »

Hi,

I would like to upgrade from 4.1.10 to 4.2x. To do this, I go to Configuration>>Expert>>Update. However, I get this outcome, which doesn't seem to update anything.

Screen Capture 1

Then I go to Configuration>>Expert>>Upgrade. I get this message: "Detected Pi-Star 4.1.10... already running the latest version..." and it stops.

Screen Capture 2

I'd appreciate it if someone could guide me in getting past this.

Thanks,

Marc

4.1.x -> 4.2.x = re-image.... there is no in place upgrade for that, since the OS has changed version between the two.

Hello,

I’m a basic user, running 4.1.10 and it’s working fine. Are there worthwhile benefits to upgrade via the entire process of flashing an SD card, etc. or just leave well enough alone? Thanks.

Not sure about benefits, but it is very easy to do. Upgraded one of mine this morning. Just remember to make a backup using the backup/restore feature on the Pi-Star dashboard. I put the backup into the root of the SD card and it read the settings.

If you have more than one WiFi that you use, it only saves the current WiFi, so you would need to go in and set up a second (or third) WiFi. Instructions somewhere here on the forum...
