Pi-Star Remote

Post by MW0MWZ »

Added some extra commands to the RF remote control tool;

As usual, uncomment the commented commands to enable them, you may want to un-link from any connected reflector when playing with GETIP and 8BALL on D-Star :)

GETIP will answer with a text message of the host IP address, and 8BALL will answer yes/no questions as per the infamous Magic 8Ball.

HOSTFILE (and the respective options per mode) will update the host files, but does not re-start the services afterwards, enables you to get new host files via RF command, its not terribly handy, but who knows, it might help one of you.

Config now looks like:

Code: Select all

# The remote control system is designed to give repeater keepers an
# RF KillSwitch for their repeaters.

Has anyone been able to successfully use GETIP? If yes, can you share how your radio is set up, and what you see when you send GETIP? I've been able to successfully use SHUTDOWN and REBOOTPI, but not GETIP. Thanks.

Just like the magic 8 ball toy. Ask a question, get a vague answer.

Ah, that didn’t even cross my mind. I thought it was something more useful. LOL.

No. should be in the 3.4.17 release as well.

Presuming you have updated using the dashboard link, or Pistar- update it should pull down as part of the update as Pistar remote was introduce several vers. back.

Thanks Andrew, I went ahead and upgraded to 'Pi-Star v4.0.0' and tried the GETIP, but I did not seem to get any response. Is there something I am missing? The other remote commands I use work fine...

No, I'm not getting that too work either.
I believe Toshen above has brought it to Andy's attention.
So hopefully he'll look it over.

So you do need to be up to date, and you do need to add the lines to the remote config (as posted above)
Set the UR field to match what you set in the remote config and it should work.

The answer is Text message and ONLY works in D-Star.
