Simpler to just use the provided scripts:DD9DR wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 11:45 am * make the root-partition writeable:Code: Select all
sudo mount -o remount,rw /
Code: Select all
Pi-Star's disk is read-only by default, enable read-write with "rpi-rw".
Pi-Star built by Andy Taylor (MW0MWZ), pi-star-3b tools all start "pistar-".
pi-star@pi-star-3b(ro):~$ rpi-rw
pi-star@pi-star-3b(rw):~$ rpi-ro
pi-star@pi-star-3b(ro):~$

Maybe, but my Howto is also adressed to other people who use raspbian, and those scripts are exclusively Pi-Star-related, and would break my Howto for all others.

Re: [solved] Sporadic WiFi disconnect
Your first sentence though emphasized "connection with Pi-Star", and for that, the shortcut scripts would exist.

Re: [solved] Sporadic WiFi disconnect
I don't like such Shortcut-Scripts at all!
Nobody needs a script für a short single-line-command!
Thats an obscurification and absolutely unreliable - realy not helpfull.
I will not change my Howto.
take it or leave ist!

Re: [solved] Sporadic WiFi disconnect
You're welcome to your opinion, of course, but you're absolutely incorrect to say that the rpi-ro and rpi-rw commands are "absolutely unreliable." I use those two commands all the time and they always work reliably.

A rather stupid statement, given you obvs.
A. Didn't realise the feature existed.
B. Don't know what the script is actually doing.
There are many of these in the pistar image. There to help those that are not overly confident with a Linux OS. It is a large part of what makes pistar "the choice" for pi based hotspot installs.

Re: [solved] Sporadic WiFi disconnect
And they only works on PiStar, what makes those commands unreliably for eveyone, who is also using other Linux-Systems - like me and many others.
I'm using the Linux-way, and I recomend any user to learn at least this Linux-basics.
No, the reason is, that there is no real alternative to Pi-Star.
Those primitive mini-scripts are for shure not the reason.

Re: [solved] Sporadic WiFi disconnect
And where is the problem now?
My solution works perfect - even with Pi-Star.
But not "only" with Pi-Star
It even works with any other raspian-based application.
I only refuse to limit it artificialy to Pi-Star.
