loaded up my Hotspotbut I can't access it via WiFi as it seems my PC doesn't see it.
Checked every thing even to the extent of deleting the SD card and starting again.
Any obvious suggestions welcome

PC not seeing my Hotspot
Re: PC not seeing my Hotspot
It would be helpful to know a few more details.
- What kind of hotspot?
- Is it based on a Raspberry Pi? If yes, what model?
- If it is based on an RPi 3B, 3B+, 3A+ or Zero W, did you try using Auto AP? (see: https://amateurradionotes.com/images/2- ... uto_AP.pdf)
- If not, did you try making a wpa_supplicant.conf file and copying it to the microSD card's root directory before booting up the hotspot?

Re: PC not seeing my Hotspot
If ur running one of the newer releases, on first initial boot the setup auto expands the sdcard, depending on the size of the card Ur using it can take a little while. Until it's completed you won't have access to anything. But as said that's only using the newer releases and only does this the very first time you boot for initial setup.

The RPi 3B+ requires the release candidate version of Pi-Star: Pi-Star_RPi_V4.0.0-RC3_20-Jan-2019.zip (http://www.pistar.uk/beta/)

Re: PC not seeing my Hotspot
You need to use the image at the link I provided. 3.4.17 won't work on an RPi 3B+, which is designed for the new version of Raspbian called Stetch. Pi-Star 4.0 is designed for Stretch; 3.4.17 isn't.

Re: PC not seeing my Hotspot
when you have vers. 4.0 RC3 installed and configured, action a manual update so you move onto 4.0 RC4.

Re: PC not seeing my Hotspot
Andrew is saying that, after you install Pi-Star 4.0.0-RC3, you can run a manual upgrade to 4.0.0-RC4. To do so, go to the Expert Editor page of the Pi-Star dashboard. First run a Pi-Star Update by clicking the Update link, and then run a Pi-Star Upgrade by clicking the Upgrade link (you always should run an update before running an upgrade).
If you need some help with upgrading from 3.4.17 to 4.0.0-RC3, see the Upgrade to 4.0 video in the W1MSG Tutorial Videos section of this forum:
