XLX Reflector sporadically not appearing in Pi-Star list

Post by W7RD »

Hi,
This has been going on for a few weeks. Some days, I don't know how often but at least once a week, reflector XLX869 goes missing from the lists. I've checked the two links at the top of the XLXHosts and DExtra files and usually it is actually in there, but NOT in Pi-Star's local files.

Today, it's missing from:
http://www.pistar.uk/downloads/DExtra_Hosts.txt
http://www.pistar.uk/downloads/XLXHosts.txt

Although it's usually in those, but not in the local Pi-Star list.

But, it IS in:
http://xlxapi.rlx.lu/api.php?do=GetXLXDMRMaster

So I can't figure this out. Where is the discrepancy? I've verified the reflector is online and always has been.

Thanks,
Steve

XLX reflectors have their own call home function and this is how the host file is generated (once a day) so if for whatever reason a reflector is unavailable or off-line during that time it will fail to be included in the host file for that given day.

As referenced in several other threads, use XRF869 instead.

Hi,
Thanks for your responses. I think I understand what's going on and although I don't know how an odd url is getting in there I will go over it and double check. Thanks to all.

Thanks again. I found that rogue url in the config file for xlxd. I have no idea why I didn't change it after testing and what not, but anyhow it should be fine now. Thanks for the heads up.

I don't what's going on ... I've never understood why there are two files for every hosts list:
/usr/local/etc/XLXHosts.txt
/usr/local/etc/XLXHosts.txt.20190613

On all my units, the first file (and apparently the one the unit obeys) I don't see XLX869. But in the second one with the date stamp, it's in there. This makes not sense. Why are they different?

They are both time-stamped 0359 today so I know they just came in.

Ater looking, it's in NONE of the files (URLs) referenced by DExtra or XLXHosts today. I can't figure out what the deal is. I rebooted it just for sure, and everything is configured correctly. Is there any way I can figure out why the system randomly lists this reflector?

You'll likely need to ask the folks who control the master sources...

Running diff on yesterday and today resulted in:

Code: Select all

pi-star@pi-star-3b(ro):~$ diff /usr/local/etc/XLXHosts.txt.20190614 /usr/local/etc/XLXHosts.txt

This shows, if I interpret the format correctly, between 0713UTC Thursday and 0713UTC Friday:

207 was added
262 changed host
330 changed host
344 was deleted
386 was added
527 was added

866 changed host
869 was added
972 was added

Five reflectors added in 24 hours, one was deleted in that span.
