Pi-Star Setup for DVMEGA DUALBAND Board
Pi-Star Setup for DVMEGA DUALBAND Board
I find that one can only set pi-star to run either on UHF Duplex, or VHF Duplex...Why not proper Dual Band Simplex, so that one does not have to change the pi-star config continually, and select to use whatever band is suited for local conditions?
Re: Pi-Star Setup for DVMEGA DUALBAND Board
You are gong to have to help me out here - what do you expect from a "proper Dual Band Simplex"
Re: Pi-Star Setup for DVMEGA DUALBAND Board
If it is a dualband radio, how does one setup the pi-star configuration
to get both bands running in simplex mode simultaneously, without having to set pi-star continuously.
(this is from an email I sent in)

Re: Pi-Star Setup for DVMEGA DUALBAND Board
None of the setup supports this, the MMDVMHost software doesn't support it and neither does the hardware...
Re: Pi-Star Setup for DVMEGA DUALBAND Board
Tee-Hee,,then why is it called a Dualband radio board?? All my hard earned currency to by the 'best' dualband, twin radio board, and it doesn't work like one.
Re: Pi-Star Setup for DVMEGA DUALBAND Board
A dualband radio with a single VFO is no different ?
Re: Pi-Star Setup for DVMEGA DUALBAND Board
I still cannot get the setup correct: dvmega dualband Pi radio board on a Raspberry Pi 3. I have tried both the simplex and dual band settings, vhf duplex, uhf simplex, still not getting through to the 'net. The wifi is connecting. The only change to the 'hat' is that one led(red) flashes fast whilst starting, then slows down when 'active'. When I key up my handheld, the led slows down further. It did once receive a callsign to the dashboard when it was set to simplex board on uhf.....wonders never cease!
Re: Pi-Star Setup for DVMEGA DUALBAND Board
What board is that - sounds like DVMega Dual Band - those are simplex boards, so can be used as simplex or split only.
If you swap modes (DStarRepeater to MMDVMHost or the other way around) you will need to fully power off the pi and boot it back up, the modem remembers the last used mode.
So just to make sure - let us know what board this is - and what modem you have selected in the config page.
Hope that all helps.

Yes it is a dvmega dualband Pi radio board, always set to MMDVMHost and I have tried both the modem settings, Single Band, and Dual band, and simplex node, and duplex repeater...
Re: Pi-Star Setup for DVMEGA DUALBAND Board
Selecting this modem: DV-Mega Raspberry Pi Hat (GPIO) - Dual Band
and Simplex ? (assuming that its a GPIO hat and not sat on an Arduino).
