The CCS background colour setting is easy to figure out, the web authoring colour tables/charts are shown on several web sites, such as:
https://www.w3schools.com/colors/colors_picker.asp

I use green on my Pi Zero W and blue on my Pi 3B...

85C is the max temp. temps in the 50's is no issue at all

The latest firmware updates have improved the Pi 4 quite a bit to where if you have a good case and heat sinks you should be alright. Notice that you can reduce the temperature by 2C by just changing its orientation. It would be nice to see the orientation trick get adopted by case designs with proper venting as too many of the hotspot cases lack proper venting.

Hi,
I have found that I need to press the reset button on the Top hat of the pi-Star unit attached to my Raspberry 4 B in order for the dash board to enliven the D-Star mode activation?

I have the same problem. Need to reset mmdvm hat to get it running.

Well - who cares about TEMP - getting the HOTSPOT to work with a 4B is a challenge in itself. I got v4.1.2 up - and DMR modes enabled are in RED. DMR mode is selected in Config. I guess this is why I use Fusion. Waisting hours on trying to figure this out - its seems to be a different issue with the PI-Star every time I try to build one.
