I have a Vilros Raspberry Pi Zéro W
With a KKmoon mini MMDVM Hotspot expansion board
When I boot up I get these errors

Failed to start load/save random seed

then further on

Failed to start Pi-Star DAPnet Gateway service
Failed to start Pi-Star YSF2NXDM service
Failed to start Pi-Star YSF2DMR service
Failed to start Pi-Star DMR2YSF service
Failed to start Pi-Star YSF2P25 service
Failed to start D-Star Radio service

then further on

Failed to start LSB: exam Mail Transport Agent

Am I doing something wrong or do I have a bad board

Neither - those are normal.

All of the services are always enabled - and then the service handlers read the config and decide if the process should really start - so if they are off/not configured - they will "fail" but thats a soft error really.

MTA is crippled on purpose, and the save/load random seed - that one I will look at, but again its a soft error you can ignore.
