download of up2date Hostlist?

Hello
I run the repeater DB0DLR on ircDDBGateway and the question is how to easily keep the "host-lists" up to date ???

I have a script that downloads
ftp://dschost1.w6kd.com/DPlus_Hosts.txt
and
ftp://dschost1.w6kd.com/DExtra_Hosts.txt
every night, but these files seem to be a bit "outdated" to me, right?
(one of my users noticed me he has problems with XLX850 and there is the wrong adress in the file...)

I do not use DPlus, because I don't understand how to condigure it right and all this "10.x.y.z. IP stuff", but DCS und DExtra should be working.

I looked arround the internet a bit and found some sources for "host Adresses" like
http://xlxapi.rlx.lu/api.php?do=GetReflectorHostname
http://vk4tux.duckdns.org/OD/
http://xrefl.net/
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=297&p=3395&hilit=DP ... .txt#p3395

So wich one is the best to use as a DExtra_hosts.txt ???

I think I found it myself now :-)

These files seem to contain all the needed Info:
- http://www.pistar.uk/downloads/DExtra_Hosts.txt
- http://www.pistar.uk/downloads/DCS_Hosts.txt

and they seem to be automatically generated over night
"# File created at Thursday 7th of February 2019 09:12:20 AM UTC"

So I'll use these files then.

Thanks a lot

the host files get updated in the early hrs, each morning.

XLX (DCS) is getting pulled directly from the XLX service, so should always be accurate, if pistar is kept up to date. what's being reported by the actual XLX reflector itself via its call home feature is being stored and forwarded to you in the nightly update. In theory the only time the pistar update server can't forwarded correctly is if the reflector is offline, its call home feature is disabled or it's not reporting correctly.

Hello, I read that the file Dplus_hosts.txt automatically generates from the DNS database dstargateway.org, 3 days ago I added our gateway SR1UVS to this database since this time the date of gonerating the file has changed several times and SR1UVS is still not on the list.
Could someone please write how to add this record to the list?
I don't mean adding to the list manually. !!

The default setup of Pi-Star will update the host files every time you press update on the dashboard, every time you run "sudo pistar-update" on the command line, or over night if you do nothing at all.

There is no need to script any kind of update process separately.

Please don't hijack threads;

SR1UVS is not listed publicly, you may need to turn visibility on, in the mean time I have added it manually, the DNS is resolved each time we create the files.
