No firewall rule added for custom masters in DMR_Hosts.txt

Post by F4BWG » Wed Feb 13, 2019 12:03 pm

Hello !

Here are a couple of questions after observing the symptoms on both:
* Pi-Star:4.0.0-RC3 / RaspberryPi 3 B+
* Pi-Star:3.4.17 / RaspberryPi 2B

After adding a custom DMR Host in /root/DMR_Hosts.txt and updating, the new master appears in the dropdown list. But there is no way to connect to it... because it seems piStar does not automatically create an outbound firewall rule for custom DMR masters (the default policy for OUTBOUND is to DROP).

1) Is this by design ? If yes, may I post a feature request for this ?

According to this wiki article http://wiki.pistar.uk/Adding_custom_fir ... to_Pi-Star you can add a custom firewall rule in the file /root/ipv4.fw . However it seems this file is not executed at pi-star reboot.

2) Is this method deprecated and is there another location for custom firewall rules ?

For now I put the rule in rc.local.

Thanks a lot !

Add your custom rule to /root/ipv4.fw and then run sudo pistar-firewall to merge the changes into the firewall and keep them in place for each reboot.
