Any way to get support for a 5ghz or 80211ac wifi channel from the pi-star raspberry PI? I have an extender that's using those models for extra speed upstairs, but my Jumbospot (and now DvMega cast) never sees them, they only find the main 2.4ghz channel which is further away and unsteady from downstairs.

I think you'll need both Pi-Star 4.0.0-RC3 and a RPi 3A+ or 3B+.

Toshen is correct. I run Pi-Star vn4 rc3 on a RPI 3b+ and have no issue connecting to my 5ghz router.

3A+ and 3B+ bring 5GHz support, Pi 4 hardware brings 802.11ac

you are right - not sure why I thought they didn't, maybe confusing the gigabit Nic that isn't really gigabit on the 3b+ who knows.

Now you got me wondering if the RPi 4 has full gigabit. XD
It is supposed to - its one of the *new* things :)
The Pi 3B+ has a gig socket, but the interface is on the USB bus, so it makes it to about 300Mbit/sec.
The Pi 4 is quite the beast - even compared to a 3B+.
