New JumboSpot won't connect to Brandmeister servers

Hi folks. Newbie to Hotspots, but not DMR. Built a JumboSpot (MMDVM hat with Pi Zero-W). Everything seems to work ok, able to talk to the PiStar dashboard on my WIFI net, spot sees radio transmissions. Problem is that I cannot connect to any DMR (Brandmeister) or DMR+ masters. I do have the HotSpot security password set in my Brandmeister self help page and on the JumboSpot. Expert mode verifies password is correct and not the default. Live log shows 3 repeating messages that connection to master timed out, stopping DMR network and re-starting DMR network. No other error messages. I can go to SSH and 'ping' the Brandmeister server IP address no problem. Suspect I may have an issue with my Netgear router, but not sure where to look next. Suggestions? I have been all over the forums on this and have already tried re-flashing the OS from scratch. Also, I did turn off the Brandmeister Selfcare hotspot security and clear the password from PIStar to get the default pw back, that did not work either
