4.1 rc4 > rc5 problem?

Post by W2XQ » Thu Sep 05, 2019 1:12 am

On a pi0 Jumbospot, I had an error moving to rc5 but I don't know if is significant. This occurred on both a 16gb and a 32gb card (both SanDisk class 10). What if anything, am I doing wrong? From the Expert menu...
----
Starting upgrade, please wait...
Detected Pi-Star 4.1.0-RC4 running on RPi hardware, attached to stm32dvm modem...
cp: error writing '/var/lib/dhcpcd5/resolv.conf': No space left on device
Upgraded from 4.1.0-RC4 to 4.1.0-RC5...
Sleeping a few seconds before making the disk Read-Only...
Finished
----
Thanks in advance.

All 4 of mine showed the out of space error also, all 4 working fine anyways.. 2 of em have 64 gig cards, 2 have 16 gig..

I'm kinda curious why it popped up also..

This may have been the whole reason behind the upgrade to RC5. Andy's comment in the code:
# Fix up some minor issues with resolvconf's config

Thanks to Toshen's suggestion of running the sudo pistar-expand, it cleared the problem. Rerunning upgrade? No error message. Good to go. Memo to self. Get up to speed on some linux and sudo commands.

It happened because it ran out of space trying to copy the file.

Nah, this is a new bug in the script.

https://github.com/AndyTaylorTweet/Pi-S ... 9f45e8R838 , you can see he increased the size of /var/lib/dhcpcd5 to 32k in the previous command before the copy error.

Code: Select all

tmpfs 32K 16K 16K 50% /var/lib/dhcpcd5
For some reason, the OS said it was full when it tried to copy a 4k file to it.

I don't know if this causes any issues later on down the road, since the file we were supposed to copy and then create a symlink to didn't actually copy, but maybe Andy should make the size bigger than 32k just in case.

In order to rerun the pistar-upgrade scripts, you need to manually edit a file to trick the script into thinking you are on a previous version, otherwise it just checks and quits without actually doing anything.

Code: Select all

rpi-rw
sudo nano /etc/pistar-release
change RC5 to RC4, and then rerun the pistar-upgrade script again.

I'm just going to leave this here because I don't feel like creating an entirely new thread, and it is an issue I've seen since upgrading to RC5.

I have upgraded two hotspots to RC5, both of them seem to be stuck in RW mode and I can't get them to go back to RO mode, unless I reboot, and then a day later they are back in RW mode.

There is something with the daily cron update script that is keeping the filesystem from returning to RO mode, I have confirmed it with lsof but I don't know exactly what command is causing this.

Anyone else noticing that when they ssh into the hotspot its now in RW mode, and rpi-ro reports that the mount is busy?
