Jumbospot : unable to RX RF signal

Hi everyone,

I just received my JumboSpot kit + RPI Zero, to change my old DVMega-Raspberry

Everything is configured, but the JumboSpot can't receive RF signal ...
I tried DMR, Dstar and C4FM.

Only C4FM (with FT70) seems to receive and transmit correctly.

But in DMR / Dstar, impossible to be received by the jumbospot. I'm going to check what's wrong with mmdvmcal.
On the JumboSpot board, RX offset and TX offset are indicated : 0

Results : No problem with mmdvmcal, my signal is correctly received in DMR (not tested with Dstar). By default my BER is below 2%
Probably a little offset of +100 to be optimal (BER 1.6%).

Everything seems to work with mmdvmcal, but why nothing is received in the dashboard ? A bug in pistar ?

Any idea on this problem ?
I check with a SDR (R820T on my PC) and both Jumbospot / Anytone D878UV seems to transmit on the same frequency

For the moment i'm stuck with this problem ...

Thanks for your suggestions !

Look over this as a possible fix for DSTAR

But the problem exist in DMR too ?

Edit :
Contain of the live log during a dstar transmit :

Off the top of my head -- it probably means your radio is configured for SIMPLEX operation, and hence is not sending the proper routing instructions in the packet header. You haven't identified what radio you have for D-STAR mode. The following is from my TH-D74A...

Took me a while to figure out how to get into DV mode on the hotspot frequency but... Simplex (DV) mode

Code: Select all

Putting it back into DR mode (but not specifying a gateway routing)... Repeater (DR) mode with 0.0Hz Tx/Rx offset

HI Dennis,

You're right
After a new programmation of Id51, it works.
I don't know why I need this specific configuration with the jumbospot, because on my old dvmega-rpi (with pi star 4), I don't need it...

So, concerning the jumbospot : dstar works now, as expected.
But nothing with DMR. Nothing in the live log. Just the RX led on the jmbo board...

For remind, no problem with BER according mmdvmcal

Any idea why pi star doesn't receive my DMR signal?

Thanks
73

Interesting -- since I created the snippets above using a DV-Mega R-Pi3b combination running Pi-Star 4.1.0
So, concerning the jumbospot : dstar works now, as expected.

If "General Configuration" has "Node Type" PRIVATE, make very sure that the DMR ID in the configuration also matches that programmed into your radio.

This is the case : my D878UV have the same ID as my JumboSpot (and also my DVMega).

No live logs in DMR on my jumbospot :(

I'm going to compare the DMR / MMDVM settings between my DVMega (which is working) and the new JumboSpot

If you have both on-line at the same time, make sure the DMR configuration "DMR ESSID" has different values for the two systems.
