Problem with TX into my MMDVM Hat with 9700

I have an Icom IC-9700 and for some reason am not able to get my RPi 3b MMDVM Hat to "show transmit" when using the 9700. The MMDVM works fine on Fusion but I must have a setup issue on the 9700??

What I am doing is transmitting low power on my 9700 at 443.5 MHz into my 3.5" Nextion Display MMDVM Hotspot. The display does not show my callsign and that I am transmitting - and of course nobody hears me. Receiving from my Hotspot is fine though on 443.5 MHz. However if I have time or info turned on it does send that info thru the net and show my callsign but that is not from my 9700.

Can any who is an expert with the 9700 tell me where the problem might be? I am registered and have stored the "B" and "G" callsigns in the radio too.

Thank you, Michael n2zdb

The most common problem would be that you did not define the hotspot channel as "digital repeater" using a 0.0 repeater shift (+ or - shouldn't matter).

You have to use a "repeater" configuration in order for the proper packet headers to be sent (your call sign, gateway call sign, and CQCQCQ target). In "digital voice" mode, only your call sign and CQCQCQ gets sent -- no routing information.

Hi Dennis, How do I select a digital repeater function?

I thought I set up all that - I remember the 0 offset but not the digital repeater part. I have been spending a lot of time and still have no luck!

Thank you,

Called a friend up this evening and we finally have it working on a regular memory.....not on a DR memory!

Will have to work with it some more tomorrow.
