Pi-Star slow to respond to PTT TX?

Running the latest version of Pi-Star on a DVMega/RPi 3. I only have DMR and DStar modes enabled, and I am NOT using both modes simultaneously. I'm either using my DMR HT, or using my DStar HT.
I don't think I see this issue with DMR.
Watching the dashboard, when I press PTT on my DStar HT, there's a considerable lag between when I press PTT and when I actually see that Pi-Star is recognizing the RF and the status changes to "Receiving DStar" or whatever. It's usually 3 or 4 seconds. Sometimes less, sometimes it's been more. It's annoying and unless I would be watching the dashboard, I'd have no idea it was happening.
My TX - RX offsets are set to 0 in the expert configuration. I don't seem to have any BER issues or loss with the offsets here. Is there another setting somewhere that I'm missing? Something where I can adjust the time it takes to pick up on what mode I'm transmitting at the hotspot?
Edit: Now it's responding in about a second. Earlier it was literally 4 or 5 seconds. What gives?
