New Jumbo Hotspot - Cant connect to web server

Post by G4AFI »

Hi all,

I have a new Jumbo Hotspot (based on Pi Zero W). I can see the Pistar-Setup AP and can successfully connect using password raspberry. The AP gives my Android tablet an IP address of 192.168.50.55. When I enter this IP address into my Chrome browser I get 'This site can't be reached 192.168.50.50 refused to connect. ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED.

I tried with some other Android Wifi devices - I get a different IP address in the 192.168.50.* subset but when I enter this address into the device browser I always get the same result - as above

Any ideas ??

Thanks,
Andrew

The address you receive is the one given to the Android device for ITS END, not the address of the access point.

The setup/auto access point IP address is 192.168.50.1 ALWAYS. However, you shouldn't need to use that as pi-star-setup(.local) as a host name should resolve to it.

I have now successfully configured my Pistar Hotspot using 192.168.50.1

BTW I could not get pi-star.local to resolve hence my search for the IP address. What a silly mistake I made !!

Thanks for the help. Great forum.

In Auto-AP mode, the host name is pi-star-setup(.local)
