I was given a MMDVM is a pi-zero with a top hat. Put my id and specs in and worked for several days. Used updater and upgrade to 3.4.17 20210201 but setting under RF modem said Zumspot single band raspberry pi hat (gpio)
Here’s my mistake I used ssh and updated pistar-zumspotflash and it hosed it up. Hat stopped working and display blank.
So with help through email from another ham I ran ssh
sudo su
"pistar-mmdvmhshatflash hs_hat"
And it updated:
Old original hat (HS Hat v1.3.7)
Now (HS Hat v1.5.2)
But it’s still not working and display is blank.
It looks like this one on link below and I set the RF modem to
Stm32-dvm / mmdvm_hs - raspberry pi hat (gpio) because original settings above didn’t work either
https://radioaficion.com/news/jumbo-spo ... ini-mmdvm/
Should I try reimagining the sim?
Noticed tonight there are two different Jumbo TCXO flash’s available: 1=14.7456 MHz and 2=12.2880 MHz
New version has TCXO frequency (14.7456) below FW HS Hat V1.5.2 on dashboard
My old version I never noticed TCXO frequency below FW HS Hat v1.3.7 on dashboard
Maybe need to try the 12.2880 MHz?
Help please Jumbo hat
Re: Help please Jumbo hat
The leds all flash fast then green on red blinking.
Seems different than before. I’m new to this so ... uneducated.
The chip to the left of reset below stm32 says.
8.000
:19 with a square left of 19 and a Z diagonally in it.
Not sure if you mean logs on dashboard or???

Live logs: when I capture I downloaded and looked through the settings and they seem to be correct.KE7FNS wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 7:42 amWhen you power on the board, do the LED's flash 3 times? Yes, or no?
(They were so fast I had to video and scroll manually through them, yes all leds flash 3 times)
Does the SRV LED flash slowly and then blink faster after a few minutes? Yes, or no?
(The red led at boot up seems 2 seconds apart and then speeds up to 1 second apart.)
There must be another one, probably hidden under the OLED. Oh well.
The mmdvmhost logs. You can use the dashboard or you can just view it from a terminal, either way it will tell you what the failure is.
Problem is, I’m unsure of selecting correct rf modem, see above. The flash for hat appears to be by CA6JAU and I’m unsure if original flash was by same person?
Also in the dashboard DMR mode is red and dmr net is red so they appear to be disabled. But are enabled in settings and log.
Re: Help please Jumbo hat
We used to have quite a few guys do this when I ran the Jumbospot Group on Face book, Even did it myself once (I own both and braincramped). Re-run the flash again, it might take a try or two. I agree with the 14mhz txco, don't think I've ever seen a Jumbo with 12.
Reimaging the SD card won't do anything, unless you want to upgrade to the newest PI-Star.

Re: Help please Jumbo hat
Tried to install 12 MHz and it wouldn’t allow in root.
Installed the at_ambe one and still doesn’t work
Simplex frequency is red in setup
And dmr & DNR net red status
These are from Amazon link.
What is the radio modem type?
Answer:
ZumSpot - Raspberry Pi Hat (GPIO)
This setting is working for me.

STM32-DVM/MMDVM_SH-Raspberry PIHat (GPIO) is what the vendor sent me.
By Gary B. on August 26, 2019
It's a generic MMDVM hat.

Re: Help please Jumbo hat
Used my magnifier on my smartphone and top hat says:
JamboSP
Guess that means it’s definitely generic.
The modem settings when working was:
Zumspot-Single Band Raspberry Pi Hat (GPIO)
Toast.... should have left it alone!

Re: Help please Jumbo hat
I’m wondering if this is it?
My original dashboard said
HS Hat:v1.3.7
And rf modem selected was
Zumspot-single band raspberry pi hat (gpio)
https://github.com/juribeparada/MMDVM_H ... tag/v1.3.7
I don’t know how to select this firmware to load.
I there a list of different hats (flashes) somewhere for the pi-star ssh terminal?
Regards

JamboSP is Jumbo?KE7FNS wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 6:16 pmBingo. Move your frequency out of the satellite portion of the band. 435-438 Mhz, or 145.8 to 146 Mhz.
When you enter an acceptable frequency it will be green.
The old firmware used to not block those frequencies.
You have a jumbospot, so only use the instructions you posted on the website you posted. They are correct.
I wouldn't install 1.3.7 it is from 2018 and a lot of features have been added and several bug fixes have been made since then.
I changed the frequency which was 436.125.000 to 445.825.00 and frequency box turned green and display started working.....fudge....
