What size card do I need for long term use?

Hello,
Just got my hotspot a few days ago and first thing I did was upgrade from 3.x to 4. One conference I was reading was suggesting using something larger than the 8gig Micro SD card that came with the hotspot so it will have room for the future. On a full size Pi, I did have this problem once with raspberian updates using up all the space to the point that I had to rebuild my system with a 32 gig card.
I have also read that Pi-star is not a full Linux distribution so this may not be an issue. So will Pi-star outgrow an 8? I don't mind upgrading now if this will be a problem in the future.
Thanks!
