Getting the gps to work

I have tried to make my pi-star work with a gps puck that I bought from Amazon. I got gpsd and cgps to access but pi-star doesn’t update my location. Am I under to wrong impression? I thought, again I admit I can be wrong, that adding the gps allow the pi-star send it’s location to APRS. If someone could shed a little light on my problem or set me straight.

Or if someone knows how to get direwolf to over look the fact that I don’t have a sound card plugged in to my pi-zero. I have tried to get to send my location in the background.

Thanks, DuPree KO4CWF

Ok thanks. I am current trying to write a python script to do this. I would like to send my hotspots location when I have it in the car. I would also like it to report what talk group/reflector I am connected to. Unfortunately, I am still learning python and its going slow if I will ever finish it.
