MMDVM DAC Level Overflow

Hi Folks,
I'm running dual mode FM/DMR repeater with a BI7JTA/VR2VYE V3F4 modem.
DMR all works fine, but in FM mode I get a lot of noise holding the TX open with MMDVM ADC (and/or DAC) levels have overflowed scrolling in the live log screen.
Is this a hardware issue? I know that FM performance is far from fantastic due to using the low level audio to/from the radios.
Is there an easy fix before I knock up a repeater cable and bypass the MMDVM for FM?
