Firmware update fails

Post by zl1cts »

Hi All

I have a Duplex mmdvm dual hat and I cant get it to update the new firmware
its a MMDVM_HS_DUAL_HAT (DB9MAT, DF2ET & DO7EN) for Pi (GPIO)
currently running fw 1.4.17, I have seen the later versions on git hub etc, but cant get it to load, it runs through the update process looks like its complete but then comes up with
Failed to Init device
Flashing your hs_dual_hat complete, press any key to reboot your pi-Star system

had a similar issue with my nano spot, and had to curl -OL https:// etc etc etc
to download and stop services and ./install_fw_nanohs.sh

So I am guessing its the same for this board? I havent found a suitable command to get the firmware

any help would be great on this, trying to fix a stop responding issue and this is the last software part before replacing hardware..

thanks people

Do you have the JP1 link open?

If you do it needs to be shorted so that the CPU can be put into bootloader mode to accept the new firmware.

If that doesn't work it could have locked firmware which requires using an ST-Link programmer and software connected via the ST-Link connector to unlock the CPU firmware.

Hi all

OK thanks for responding, I'll have a look at the jumper, if not I have an stm programmer

I thought it would be something like that but didn't know where to look

Thanks

I actually read that document and even read the bit about jp1, but for some reason it did not compute in my old fart brain and didnt think it was relevant :D

Right a blob of solder tonight and re-flash

simple when you know how (or read and understand the instructions)

Cheers
