‘Slow’ RX and high BER - when in a case

Here’s an interesting one: I’ve had a duplex hat and 3b+ running ‘naked’ on the bench for the last couple of weeks while I waited for a c4labs case and Nextion screen to arrive. Pi-star was working great on DMR and P-25.

Put everything together last night and now having trouble with both modes. High BER and very slow to acknowledge a transmitting radio.

I plan to tear it all down and re-assemble but curious if anyone else has seen this behavior and how it was resolved. Thanks

If the nextion is large enough ie 3.5 and up. It could poss. be attenuating the wifi performance.

That wouldn't effect the BER as thats signal between radio and hotspot and I'd presume you have an antenna connected to the hotspot that protrudes above the screen.

Ah - Interesting. It is a 3.5" screen. This is good info to know!
The wifi seems solid, it is the RF side that is sluggish. (Need to hold PTT on the HT for several seconds before unit recognizes it)

Have you made any adjustment to the rx offset in mmdvmhost expert or ran pistar-mmdvmcal to better fine tune the rf side ?

No changes - it was working fine outside the case, but I can't 'wake up' the hotspot most times from a few feet away. Will run mmdvm-cal now, forgot about that one :)
