option to run high TX power hotspot in duplex mode

Post by TB2IAK »

I wonder if there is any option to run high TX power hotspot in duplex mode.
Is there a RPI hat card that supports TX power like 1W or above ?

The 7021 rf chips used in hotspots are low pwr devices. Plus they are very dirty transmitter with low rx selectivity and sensitivity so doing anything high power with one is not a good idea and the tx range will out play its rx range.

Instead look at using a mmdvm repeater board and interfacing it to a couple mobile radios, or a compatible fm repeater.
