pi-star public IP security

Should any additional security measures be put in place to secure the pi-star system when connected to a public IP? We use this on a main repeater site, and have the dashboard publicly accessible. Is having a strong password good enough?

We advise you dont use the dashboard as an online landing page.

Can you elaborate on this? Minimal security built into Pi-star?
