New MMDVM setup WiFi ok but cannot update configuration

Have recently purchased a Jumbospot (Chinese) from Amazon Pi-Star:3.4.16 / Dashboard: 20221114.
Have it setup on the local WiFi successfully. I want to edit the configuration and an apply changes but get the following message
"Unable to read source configuration files" " please wait a few minutes and retry". So basically, stuck at this point.
Tried different browsers, computers and via SSH set the Pi-Star disk to r/w...... still no go!
Any advice is appreciated.

Really? 3.4.16? That was deprecated years ago -- the current Pi-Star release is 4.1.6. I've just run pistar-update/pistar-upgrade on my system and the most recent dashboard it found is 20221111.

Off hand, I'd say trash the provided SD card and start with an image from https://www.pistar.uk/downloads/ (after you get that booted, you'll need to run pistar-update and pistar-upgrade to get to current versions).
