FTM 400XDR and pi-star, need help

Post by KO4PGD »

FTM 400 XDR will not transmit into pi-star or pi-star doesn't recognize it. I have 2 pi-stars and the problem exist with both. I set pi-stars to YSF mode only, match frequencies on both radio and pi-star. FTM-400XDR will receive fine but will not transmit into pi-star. I have an FT-70D it works fine on both pi-stars with receive and transmit. Any Suggestions? FTM-400XDR works fine on digital simplex with nearby stations and works fine when connected to computer and using wiresX. My area does not have any YSF repeaters to test that. I really want to use it as a mobile with a pi-star. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

FT-70D shows 0.5% BER. Thanks for coming back to me.

OK after further transmissions I see it can sometimes jump up anywhere from 1.6 to 5 6%. Gotta fix that

Have you fine tuned the mmdvmhost rx offset value. As your BER is jumping around so wildly I'd start there using the radio that gives you the worst reading. Then tweek agn. to find a sweet spot that suits both radios.

I'm tweaking that now for the FT-70D. But the original problem still exists, the FTM-400XDR won't transmit into the pi-star or the pi-star doesn't recognize it. Therefor I can't get a BER reading on it. I'm thinking there must be a setting either on the pi-star or 400 that's preventing it from communicating.

Thanks for all the help
