I have a Pi-Star Jumbo MMDRM hotspot I have been using in simplex mode. I have been pulling my hair out trying to configure it for duplex mode to no avail.

It's occurred to me maybe my hotspot will not do duplex mode because it only has one antenna. Does a duplex mode hotspot require two antennas?

Yes. A duplex Hotspot has 2 antennas. A simplex Hotspot with a single antenna cannot function as a duplex Hotspot.
