Setting DC offset?

In the MMDVM settings, in addition to the RF offset, there is a DC offset. In GitHub there is a calibration utility that appears to work with a serial port and Windows… it doesn’t look like something related to Pi-Star.
Other than trial and error, for minimum BER on DMR, is there a better way to adjust RXDCOffset and TXDCOffset?
