Host database updates?

Post by G8SEZ »

Is there a specific mechanism for getting a DSTAR repeater remote access IP address updated?

GB7PI had a change of IP address fairly recently but it appears not to have been updated in the Pi-Star host files.

GB7PI's new IP address is 81.187.173.59 in case it can be pushed into the system somewhere.

If its an icom stack it will prob. get pulled from UStrust. Otherwise its up to individuals to add the addresses of repeaters they may be interested in connecting with into the hosts files found in the root folder.

Theres a couple other options like quadnet or ircddb that track rptr ip addresses, if your reporting to them.

OK, thanks.

Oddly neither GB7IC (which is run by, and located at, Icom UK) nor GB7PI are in the DPlus_Hosts.txt from today.

Both repeaters use Icom hardware with G3 software so I would expect them to be in the UStrust data. I will see if I can work out how to get this changed.

Last week I resurrected XRF249 reflector... http://xrf249.dyndns.org/ (44.196.69.41)

The listing is current at http://xrefl.net but has yet to populate the https://www.pistar.uk/downloads/DExtra_Hosts.txt

Can this be added manually since it doesn't seem to be picking it up per the file header information:
# DExtra_Hosts.txt downloaded from http://www.pistar.uk/downloads/DExtra_Hosts.txt
# DExtra Hosts resolved from the XReflector Directory (http://xrefl.net),
# additional host information sourced from http://xlxapi.rlx.lu/api.php?do=GetReflectorHostname
# Please report issues at https://www.facebook.com/groups/pistarusergroup/
# File updated on Monday 27th of November 2023

Thanks.... Terry

Take a look at the appropriate files here:

Code: Select all

sudo su
cd /root
ls -la
And modify them as specified according to your needs. Changes/additions editted here are then applied the next time the host files are updated.

I am still at a loss… the pi-star DEXTRA hosts file states it is getting its updates from several sources, but it does not carry all of the XRF (not XLX) entries for XRF221 and XRF249. The http://www.arrg.us/HF/DExtra_Hosts.txt site has them?

Done...

Either wait for the overnight updates or run a manual update and they should be there in the listing.
