I am using a trick with git to reduce the disk usage, it will maintain a shallow depth clone of the repo, I may well roll that back out in time, but some of the repos have a lot of history.

this is one of the reasons I am going to move away from git in time.

No, you still get all the updates, I also reverted that change to stop it looking broken.
