Switching NXDN rooms on dash not working

I don't know if anyone else is having this issue with NXDN not connecting to a room/server selected on the dashboard.
I am running Pi-Star 4.2.1 on a pi zero w ver 1.1 and is hotspotted to my iphone 6s. I dont have a native nxdn radio but would like to skip around and listen in without having to select a different room and reset the pi under the config tab.
I remeber seeing a thread a month or two ago about issues with YSF after the new firmware started coming out.
