Hello,

Beforehand, I indicate - checked forum already for possible solution to my issue but could not find anything. I am a new at this, as well, so please forgive my ignorance.

ISSUE: Cannot connect to http://pi-star after getting SSID/PSK

What I did:
1. Went to https://www.pistar.uk/wifi_builder.php and set SSID/PSK. Entered both.
2. This created config file "wpa_supplicant.conf"
3. Removed micro SD card from Jumbo Spot and and inserted it in mircoSD/USB adapter, which I plugged into my computer.
4. Copied "wpa_supplicant.conf" from computer to microSD card, to its"boot:" directory.
5. Re-inserted micro SD card into Jumbo Spot.
6. Powered up Jumbo Spot with USB cable to computer - no problem. Turned on.
5. Then attempted to go to "http://pi-star" to get dashboard/configuration access. - DID NOT CONNECT, says page unavailable and a couple of times my browser routed me to a commercial .com website with the "Pi Star" name.

Other:
- rebooted modem/router - no effect - (Router Model = "Sagecomm F@st 2864")
- using Firefox browser
- only using one computer to connect to Jumbo Spot, and I only want to use one computer
- use other devices to access my home WiFihome network (iPhone, iPad - wirelessly) & (TV, DVD player, game console, Apple TV - hardwired through my TV coax system, which is not WiFi per se)
- only want to connect one DMR radio to Jumbo Spot (Retivis Ailunce HD1)

I'm thinking my modem/router is not even detecting/recognizing the Jumbo Spot, but I know not what to do now. How to check, etc?

Any possible solutions to my dilemma?

Did http://pistar.local work? Or if all else fails can you find the IP address and get there that way.

Just tried http://pistar.local - no go.

When you say "find the IP address", do you mean of the Jumbo Spot or my computer, not sure.
And if I do have IP address, do I just link to http://---IP adresss here --/ ?

Exactly. Find a network scanner that will let you know the ip address of all your devices on your network. Should show up like in the picture

Thanks, again - but no go, again.

Did network scan - all my devices pop up with IP addresses except Jumbo Spot.

Checked SD card again - the config file no longer shows up in boot: directory. Recopied it over.

Still, not detecting. Tried http://pi-star/ again, as well. Not detecting.

I'm stumped.

It must not be connecting to your network.

Can you see the Pistar-Setup access point in your wifi list?

Pi-Star Access point not showing up - when I scan network. Jumbo Spot not showing.

Also, while having the Jumbo Spot connected-powered-on to computer, did a *View Devices* check on from Control Panel (running Windows) - all devices
displaying - keyboard, printer, etc - but not Jumbo Spot.

Your right, its not connecting.

Connect to your router's admin screen(s) and find out what IP# it has distributed to what MAC addresses...


You won't see anything with "Jumbo Spot" in the name -- but with luck will see something that looks like an R-Pi.

Heck -- if you've got a spare CAT-5 cable... hardwire the network to the spot and see if it shows up that way.

Can't understand why the Wifi AP isn't coming up for you.

It's been discussed here before, but if your wifi password has special characters, Pi-star will not connect.

As AF6VN said, you can always use Cat-5.. I used a cellphone OTG cable and an old USB network adapter to get mine up and running. (This was before the AutoAP)

It's normal for Windows NOT to see the Jumbo.. Mine never has...

This is getting beyond my abilities and knowledge, don't know how to do this.

Using Cat-5 other cables - this is quite involved and I am pressed for time presently, i.e. work.
What puzzles me is why the config file disappears after being copied to the SD card. It makes no sense.

I am going to contact a tech friend to come over and help me out, and will report back here eventually to assist anyone else that, in the future,
may encounter this same problem.
